YEAR 3

Term 1 has gone by quickly and the students should be proud of all of their achievements so far.

In Literacy, we have been learning about narratives. Students are well familiar with the format, the language features and elements to make their narratives interesting to read. We explored different types of narratives through our Reading Conventions Book, Reading Eggs and our History Books like Fables, Fairytales, Dreamtime stories etc. Apart from that, we have also been learning about our basic grammar concepts such as possessive nouns, adjectives and correct use of punctuation marks.

In Numeracy, the students have been practising different mental and written addition strategies, telling time on digital and analogue clocks and 2D shapes.

In History unit, we have been learning about important national days of Australia and other countries around the world, Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders and Dreamtime stories. Students made fantastic PowerPoint presentations and posters for their History Assessment and presented with great confidence. Well done everyone!!!

In ICT, students have been exploring various research tools, using Word documents and experimenting with different fonts, borders, importing photos from google and so on.

Identifying healthy foods and planning a healthy snack and lunch for one day has been the focus in our Health sessions. Students had to make a project to show their understanding of the topic at the end of the term and their work clearly shows that they are able to make healthy choices and back it up with reasons.

*Students have been given some sample Numeracy and Literacy Naplan tests to familiarize themselves with the style of the Naplan tests. They also have to complete some online tasks on Mathletics and Reading Eggs during their term break.

Please remember Reading Eggs has a Reading Eggs Library offering a range of books online.

Students have been provided with a Home Learning pack that includes tasks from their text books for their year level. The homework booklet has the page numbers from each text book mentioned that needs to be completed each week for Term 2. We would recommend students to complete these activities during a school closure to maintain routine and learning. These resources are to be kept at home and only used in the event of a school closure. Please ensure your child does not complete these tasks during their holidays.

Hope you have a safe Term BREAK!
